How do I let visitors get notified when you reply in SyBox?

Updated

In SyBox, this is done in Settings > Messaging > Channels (Live Chat).

How to let visitors get notified when you reply

  • After a visitor's first message, the chat asks once: "Get a notification when we reply, even if you switch to another tab?" ("Not now" or "Turn on"). If they turn it on and allow it in their browser, your reply itself shows as a notification, with your site's address and your logo, when your site's page is in another tab or hidden; a click brings the chat back. If the browser asks quietly, the chat says "Your browser put the question beside the address bar: click the bell there and choose Allow."

To notify visitors even when no page of your site is open, choose in the website's settings, "Notifications when the website is closed":

- "Automatic: the file /sybox-lc-sw.js on my site" (the default): put a file named sybox-lc-sw.js at the root of your site with one line, try { importScripts('https://api.smartsybox.com/lc/sw.js'); } catch (e) {}. Our WordPress plugin does it for you.

- "A file of my own on my site": the same line, in a file at the path you type.

- "My site's own service worker loads ours": add the same line at the top of your site's own service worker.

- "Off": visitors are notified only while a page of your site is open.

The chat never replaces a service worker your site already has. On an iPhone, a plain web page cannot show these notifications.

No. Use "Connect with Facebook". You do not need to enter any keys.
